Prediction: Now that they have played Disposable Heroes heavy in their acoustic way, the modern Metallica will never play DH in the traditional way ever again. I suspect other more challenging songs (ie the fast ones) will receive the same treatment as time moves along. Seems to me that they try to cut out the intricate parts first (i.e. double bass in The Four Horsemen or complete verses from No Remorse), then they'll probably go down that route, but at the same time this might be their way of spicing things up. I can't imagine playing Disposable Heroes the same way after 35 years. I would try to change it too honestly.

I get that they would be keen to spice things from the boredom of repetition but dont think it is valid for a song like Disposable (I do like the new take on DH ever since the first acoustic attempt).
They often speak about being aware of their age and bodies, etc with the music they play. I can see these modifications happening so they can keep putting classics in their set without the physical strain. Will be interesting to watch how they go about things in the next 3 or 4 years.

I don't think it'll be any sort of permanent change to Disposable, was just a little 'lets try something different' moment. It was interesting as a curiosity and something unexpected, but I much prefer the real Disposable, otherwise the acoustic arrangement actually on acoustic is also pretty good.
If they're going to start winding down, then my hope would be them exploring the acoustic stuff more. I think I mentioned in another post somewhere that there acoustic stuff from the last few years has felt far more authentic, full of character and passion than anything else they have done. I'd take "All Within My Hands" acoustic style stuff over phoned in generic thrash like Hardwired any day. Would be happy with more melodic slower stuff like Bleeding Me or Outlaw though too.

Agreed, I can't see them phasing out the original DH in favor of the acoustic version. I'm still expecting a mandatory instrumental slot and an acoustic mini set pretty soon. When they inevitably do phase out some of the classics, I'm sure there'll be some dramatic send off at the last show of a tour or something (such as Master and One).

Thank you! This type of performance could extend their playing by 10+ years when they eventually can't go 100 miles per hour anymore

Can't believe how great James sounded on House of the Rising Sun. It sounded very Garage Inc. Almost studio quality.

Can't believe how great James sounded on House of the Rising Sun. It sounded very Garage Inc. Almost studio quality. Meh, sounds like an impromptu jam session, which is exactly what it is. Should've been double time, energetic, ie Metallica. Sounded like any old bar band running through an overplayed classic. And damn, that intro is just weak.

A fast version would not have worked I dont think. I'm surprised it worked it all - tough to do something with a classic like that. I like how they made it work, James sounded good, maybe not studio good, but overall solid job for mine. Rob enjoyed it so hopefully it pops up again sometime.

I don't mean overall faster, I mean the drums should be double time, sort of like Mistress Dread, punk it up, give it some life. That song is just so overplayed, everyone has Jammed it or covered it, it's like Sandman or Bells, unless you radically spin it, it's just another regurgitation of the same old thing. Remove the vocals, and that may as well have been my band jamming when I was 15.

The Would cover they did last night was so underwhelming. If this band keeps up this 1:1 great/underwhelming thing they’ve been doing, the next thing they put out should be awesome.

Yup 5/10. The fact that Kirk took the time to record a separate lead clip for the overlay, and that's what met the standard says everything. Yeah yeah it's all for fun, but still, at least try to sound like you care. Focus more on the music then your silly little outfits 🤪

My theory is they were added last minute to boost the interest in the event. They could've easily recorded something in person when they did the live stream since every other act is in person. They even cut out the whole outro of the song.

At least Kirk didn't try to do the vocal harmonies, there's that😂

The audio is up for download to those who bought it! House sounds fantastic and pretty much is worth the price of admission. It sounds like they did some solid touch up work.
