But in the last 12-14 years they were writing an album for like a year and a half and he wasn't even there. Unless you count jumping into the studio for couple of weeks and the end of the process to spam some solos that he didn't even compose.

Yeah part of those Making of Hardwired videos almost shined too much of a light into the tension between the rest of the band and Kirk re: how often he's not around. There's one clip where James is frustratedly saying "we're rolling, jump on" and then the scene cuts to Kirk which I have to imagine was intentional. And in the Lords of Summer Lars snidely mentions that Mike Gilles needs to cut a 2 guitar version of the demo together so they can teach it to Kirk (who's the only one not there).

Last tour date for a while on September 24th at the Global Citizen Festival NY.
Maybe they will start recording after that date?

I'm sure there was something important to Kirk ( but not so much to James and Lars) that was going on in his life, plus the loss of riffs, that James and Lars tolerated his excessive absence, but we're like fuck it, we got to push forward. The lack of respect towards Kirk's situation annoyed Kirk, thus causing him to care less, and the cycle continued. Who knows, I just hope that things run a bit more diplomatic on the next album. Didn't Kirk get bare minimum royalties off of hardwired since he got no writing credit? I'm sure that was discussed before the release causing Kirk to care even less.

I think he was having marriage issues.....

With Raven too. They said they’ll be playing a set full of songs from the Megaforce days so I bet that means KEA and RTL like that record store day show a few years ago. This one sounds cool.

Before they retire, or whomever leaves, I just hope they release St. Anger II: The Trash Can Snare Strikes Back.

Doubt we’ll get a new album anytime soon, if touring is over this year we might get a covers album if we’re lucky.

I wouldn't mind a covers EP of brand new songs to tide us over.

I wouldn't mind a covers EP of brand new songs to tide us over. Of all their idols, the only bands left to cover are: - Rush (the few bars on Sanitarium don't count, lol) - Aerosmith (James was big on them while a teen) - Van Halen (only some minutes a few years ago when they played in Pasadena) - Rolling Stones? - The Beatles? (James did a cover afew years back, though) - Led Zepelin (not sure if the whole band or just Kirk did Dazed and Confused) - The Who - The Sex Pistols? - AC/DC - Saxon (a few minutes in 2008?) - Tygers of Pan Tang Hopefully they'd opt for obscure songs. Any others I'm missing?

Metallica (or anybody else) doesnt need to cover Hurt.... why? Its been done and done well. And there are soooo many other options, even if you narrowed it down to just Johnny Cash.

Was awesome and a huge surprise seeing it live with no idea it was something they did (pre-interwebs) The band did that Led Zep photo shoot too which was cool (and unusual)
