Could they even play in Australia these days, isn't James unvaccinated? He is vaccinated. He would not have been allowed to play the 40th anniversary shows otherwise due the Chase Centre policy. He has said he is a sceptic but he also knows that he needs the vax to be able to tour. I'm sure a few bucks on the down low can make the policy a bit flexible 😉 |

February is fading away... Yet another month without the slightiest tidbit on the new album. I guess March and April will follow the same route and 1/3 of the year will have rolled with nothing but tour and merch news... Same old. It's kinda frustrating how the band has missed out on so many occasions to be productive. Hope I'm proven wrong, tho. Rant over.

February is fading away... Yet another month without the slightiest tidbit on the new album. I guess March and April will follow the same route and 1/3 of the year will have rolled with nothing but tour and merch news... Same old. It's kinda frustrating how the band has missed out on so many occasions to be productive. Hope I'm proven wrong, tho. Rant over. Without wanting to sound like a dick but.... This has been the case since the 90s. Just cos we live in an era of instant, 24/7 stimulation, doesn't mean that everyone has to conform to that. What I mean is: after TBA there was zero news for 2 years until 95 when it was mentioned in print media that the band were in the studio. And that mainly revolved around the fact that they called the Donington 95 show "Escape From The Studio". Waiting for information on any Metallica studio album has been just that: a wait. I really don't think they are working on new music right now. And "productive" is subjective too..... to them, prepping for a tour and announcing said tour is being productive. Just not in the way that you want. I feel you though. As someone who will not be going to any of their concerts this year, I'd much rather have some other news. But, I'll be perfectly honest with you: right now, I'd be more hyped over an announcement of the Load box than a new album. HTSD was great but I'm at that stage in my fandom when it's not vital for me to have new tunes anymore. I am happy to bask in the warmth of nostalgia and memories. Essay over :D |

^ A kinda Misfists' song I've always liked; catchy. It felt it needed some lyrics added in place of the "ooh, yeahh's". It may not have fit the vibe of DM, though.

Definitely the most appropriate Metallica song for a one off single. It doesn’t really fit with any album they’ve done but I’ve had a soft spot for that song, assuming the lyrics and structure would’ve been tightened up a bit.

I just hope that it's done (secretly) an they make and announcement out of the blue some day soon like they did for Hardwired. "Hey, here's a video for a new song, and the album drops on June 4" something like that.

Kirk's EP was recorded, probably during off days, they've had 2 years to work. If they went with the Hardwired (the song) formula, and just didn't overthink anything and wrote and recorded a song every few weeks since last summer, a new album could be at the mixing and artwork stage right now. Wishful thinking, but very possible. |
