I remember the wait between TBA and Load. Felt like forever. After that, for a while there was a more normal release schedule. I'm sure if it wasn't for the breakdown of the band, we would have had some sort of shit Presidio album by 2001.
Enjoy the next album, whenever it comes out, most likely will be the last full one, if we even get it.

But, yeah, I always wonder what the follow-up to ReLoad would've sounded like if the band hadn't gone on hiatus in 2001.

It would have sounded like Garage Inc disc 1. I'm more inclined to believe it would've sounded like I Disappear (the drums have a St. Anger feel to them, of course not so annoying), maybe a tad rawer, and in terms of musical direction The Presidio is a good indication. That's why I'm so looking forward to the deluxe releases of St. Anger, DM, and Hardwired -- there's tons of unreleased stuff.

Nice to hear "10 songs" instead of "45,000 riffs/ideas" 😃

Barring any new stupidly intricate ideas, I feel pretty good about new music next year. I wouldn't even be toooo surprised if there's new music at the 40th shows. A little surprised, but not extremely.

Cool and exciting and I'm pretty sure I've heard all that 12 months ago, word for word.

Fuck yes. Me too. Out of all the "eras" this is the one that has, I think, the most interesting material and 'songs' that remain unreleased. I suspect a lot of it are very unfinished but at the same point in time, I do recall them playing Cliff Burnstein a bunch of tracks in SKOM and only 4 of those (AFAIK) went on St Anger. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but that period in time is very interesting musically and it's going to be very cool to hear more of that stuff....

Yes, looking forward to hearing those. I imagine most will be massive cut and paste songs with some wah and a lot of tough guy vibes. I like the stuff on the SKOM bonus DVD. The snowboarding song etc. Will they get massive replays, probably not, but they will satisfy a curiosity for a few moments.

I just spent a little time reading the Guns N' Roses forum, where they're getting singles of Chinese Democracy outtakes with guitar and bass overdubbed by Slash and Duff. I guess it could always be worse.

All we need these days is like a five minute daily video of Lars taking out his trash, or making a smoothie and we'd all be happy.

my favourite guitarist has a new album coming out in April, Satch averages an album every 2 years. is it too much to ask that Metallica put a bit more time into releasing new songs? I mean it was 8 years between DM to HWTSD and now that's over 5 years old. I think I'd rather a new album than a tour of Australia right now.

Should place bets on what month GnR tour will be canned again

He has said he is a sceptic but he also knows that he needs the vax to be able to tour.
