I'm trying to explain to HR....

Even if James posted a video saying " We've finished the album. It's mixed and mastered. it's out in September 2016. It's Done. "

Still some people would be saying " yeah yeah 2018 "

If they WOULD say that, I would believe it. But they're not saying that. They're being very vague at best. And Kirk saying "We have no finished songs" in fucking FEBRUARY OF 2016 doesn't really bode well for a 2016 release. I hope I'm wrong, I really do! But.

We need to bring the " Proof that they're recording " thread this side.

All I know is he said "We have no finished songs". I don't know what he meant by it. Could be they're written, just not recorded. Could be they're not even written. I don't know. And in all fairness, nobody else KNOWS exactly what's going on other than the band themselves and those working with or otherwise close to them. You can have a very very VERY good feeling about things. But you do not literally KNOW.


Key word here is "probably". Speculation, that's all it is. Yeah yeah, Spider Dan knows more than most. But even he is speculating here. Unless Kirk was asked to elaborate, there's really no knowing what he really meant by "no finished songs".


I had to google that quote. That could mean a lot of things. Technically, 51% is a "majority". So if we're to believe that statement, they had anywhere from 51% to 99% tracked instrumentally.


What does "in the bag" even mean? It can mean anything. A totally empty statement.

I admire your passion, dude, I really do. But it's a little funny how militantly aggressive you get any time anybody says anything even slightly pessimistic about the process for the new album.

And I'm not being pessimistic out of spite. I want that record to come out as much as the next guy. I know that they have done SOMETHING. I've heard the 10 second clip. I heard the tease at the Super Bowl show. I'm just fucking sick and tired of the vagueness, the non-information, the skirting around the issue and using cute paraphrasing when the guys talk about the process.

I'd rather they said absolutely nothing, and just release the goddamn album whenever it's done.

Now, I really wouldn't go that far. I think it's fairly obvious that they have made some progress. How much? I have no idea. But I feel pretty confident that they're not sorting through riffs anymore, and I think that they already have a bunch of songs written. They might even have a few songs fully recorded already. At least they have some PARTS recorded. But other than that, I really have no idea.

But when is a song really finished?

Mastodude....they are taking so long on this album it could easily take another 2-3 years. When Lars says don't hold your breath i'm taking that literally.

Probably just means they haven't finished laying down all the tracks. What we do know is that we've heard a snippet of one song that had drums, guitars, and vocals.
